This one is moving fast. We're mid-build on a back porch addition that's going to include a full outdoor kitchen, and the framing stage is exactly where things start to get exciting. You stop seeing a concept on paper and start seeing a real structure come to life.

The roof framing is up and already showing the scale of what this space is going to be. We built it with a gabled pitch that ties into the existing roofline of the home - keeping the addition looking like it was always meant to be there, not like something that was bolted on after the fact. That kind of intentional design work matters a lot when it comes to both curb appeal and long-term structural integrity.

Getting the framing right is everything on a project like this. It's the backbone. Every decision made at this stage - the beam sizing, the rafter spacing, the ridge point - directly affects how the finished structure performs for years down the road. We don't cut corners here because there's no fixing it later without tearing things apart.

Next up is stone work, and that's when the character really starts to show. The combination of a solid framed roof structure with quality stone detailing is what separates a porch addition from an outdoor living space. We're building something this homeowner is going to use and enjoy for a long time.

We take a lot of pride in the craftsmanship that goes into every phase of a build - not just the finished product. Progress like this is worth sharing because it shows what actually goes into doing the job right.
